Unplanned Sabatical

Hey lovely, long time no speak!

I didn't plan to take a sabbatical from the blog. Things IRL just started crowding it out a bit. it's summer and last minute evening plans abound. Plus I have a new day-job starting next week (eek!) and I've Air BnB bookings coming out the wazoo (great for the bank balance, but the weekly cleaning is less fun!).

Found still life, made by the kids in my block. More of this nonsense available on my Instagram!

"Muse and Embroiderer" is gonna be my sub-title some day!

I felt guilty for neglecting the blog for a good while, but as a friend pointed out it's meant to be fun, and so not to worry if it's not drawing me back. I decided to be relaxed about it and let things be. It was nice to take a break and come back excited to post again.

But the problem with stopping is how to start again . . . it's always an issue with the starting (again, or for the first time). Like that first run of the year; or diving into the cold water. You've just got to hold your nose and get to it.

So this is what I've been enjoying while I was on blog-sabatical:

I've been making blinds for the living room

I went to Glastonbury! Florence and the Machine owned that stage on the Friday night! And the food! Oh, the food!

I've been cooking, lots of simple easy meals!

And having green juice in the mornings.

I've been dreaming of buying a house for 1 Euro, for my next renovation project (not that I've finished this one, and that I said I'd do a "modern-British" camper van next .  . ) Abandoned houses make me so sad, I just want to bring them back to life!

Green, green, green, rose

I'd fill my imaginary Italian holiday home with all the beautiful things I saw at Art in Action this year (because money is no object in fantasy-land), including this basket full of Sicilian lemons . . .

I did another run at #plasticfree living for Plastic Free July which was "equally" successful as my January attempt (ie. a fair amount of failing to be plastic free). Although I did a better for a lot longer, so maybe if I keep working at it, I'll get there.

Tomorrow is the last day of my current job and then I'm off to London and then Edinburgh (whoop!) for some festival fun . . . what are you guys planning for the weekend?
